Note: Not all of the traditional series were found to be monophyletic in the analyses undertaken by Rocha et al., (2019) and future publications will further re-circumscribe this genus (Rocha et al., 2020). Meanwhile the above is a view of the genus with species of Turnera ser. Capitatae Urb., Jahrb. Königl. Bot. Gart. Berlin 2: 129. (1883) and Oxossia L.Rocha, Molec. Phylogen. Evol. 137: 58. (2019) removed.

Turnera is a genus of flowering plants in the passionflower family, Passifloraceae. It contains more than 100 species native to tropical and subtropical America. The name honours English naturalist William Turner (1508-1568).[2] It was previously placed in the family Turneraceae.[1]
