It is named in honor of Johann Bernhard Wilhelm Lindenberg, a lawyer and bryologist from Germany.[2]
A partial list of species are:
Lindenbergia grandiflora[1]
Lindenbergia griffithii[1]
Lindenbergia macrostachya[1]
