Stem: changed to Xenocyprin- by Nichols (1943: 10), confirmed by Yang in Wu (1964: 121) and by Cavender & Coburn in Mayden (1992: 321); about 1980 the stem changed to Xenocypr-, confirmed by Nelson (2006: 142); three spellings are used: Xenocyprinae, Xenocyprininae and Xenocypridinae; Xenocypridinae is correct Kottelat (2013: 69) and Van der Laan et al. (2014: 39).
