Type species: Not designated as was Potosia schaffneri (Rchb.f.) R.González & Szlach. ex Mytnik, Genus 14(Suppl.): 59 (2003), which is now accepted as a synonym of Sarcoglottis schaffneri (Rchb.f.) Ames in J.D.Smith, Enum. Pl. Guatem. 7: 50 (1905).

Potosia is a genus of flowering plants from the orchid family, Orchidaceae. It has three known species (as of June 2014), all native to Mexico and Guatemala.[1]
