Type genus: Epilobium L., Sp. Pl. 1: 347. (1753)
Note: The correct name for Chamerion, (Raf.) Raf. ex Holub, Folia Geobot. Phytotax. 7(1): 85. 1972 is now accepted to be Chamaenerion, Ség., Pl. Veron. 3: 168. (1754), as this has precedence (Sennikov, 2011). However, in Europe Epilobium, L. Sp. Pl. 1: 318 (1753) s.l. including Chamaenerion = Chamerion is most often used, see Epilobium angustifolium in The Plant List as an example.
