Holotype: BMNH 1972.6.2.43. [Paratypes: BMNH 1972.6.2.44-50 (7), 1972.6.2.52-54 (3), .55-63 (9), .64-67 (4), .68-72 (5), .73-79 (7)].
Type locality: Northeastern shore of Lake George, near Mpanga River mouth, Uganda.

Haplochromis aeneocolor is a species of cichlid endemic to Uganda where it is found in Lake George and the Kazinga Channel. This species can reach a length of 7.5 centimetres (3.0 in) SL.[2]
