Interfacing is a term used in electronics when different electronic devices are attached. The term is commonly used when attaching memory chips. Interfacing also often refers to the connection of peripheral devices to computers. Desktop computers have several "Standard Interfaces", such the Serial Port Interface (used to connect to Modems, Printers and many other devices), the Parallel Port Interface (Used mostly to connect to Printers), the IDE Interface (To Disk Drives), the USB Interface (To Mice, Printers, Scanners, Card Readers and other desktop devices), the Firewire Interface (To high-speed peripherals such as video cameras), and various Audio (Sound System) Interfaces.
