UNK proton accelerator

The UNK proton accelerator was a large particle accelerator under construction in Protvino, near Moscow, Russia, at the Institute for High Energy Physics.[1][2] While progress in construction was announced in 1996,[3] after the breakup of the Soviet Union and the economic changes in the country, government funding to the project was halted and only security and maintenance are funded.[4]
