Blödite is a hydrated sodium magnesium sulfate mineral with formula: Na2Mg(SO4)2·4(H2O). The mineral is clear to yellow in color and forms monoclinic crystals. A synonym for the mineral is bloedite. Blödite is named for German chemist Carl August Blöde (1773-1820) and is found in evaporitic sedimentary environments such as the Great Salt Lake, Utah.
