The Journal of the American Chemical Society (usually abbreviated as J. Am. Chem. Soc., or JACS) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, published since 1879 by the American Chemical Society.[1] The journal has absorbed two other publications in its history, the Journal of Analytical and Applied Chemistry in July 1893, and the American Chemical Journal in January 1914. A weekly publication, it publishes original research papers in all fields of chemistry. According to Institute for Scientific Information statistics, JACS is the journal with the most citations in this field.[2] The impact factor of the journal is 8.091 (2008).[2] Since 2002 the journal is edited by Peter J.
