Gymnocorymbus Eigenmann, 1908
Type species: Gymnocorymbus thayeri Eigenmann, 1908
Etymology: gymnos, bare or naked, presumably referring to “naked [i.e., scaleless] predorsal line”; coryumbus, summit, presumably referring to humped dorsal profile. The ETYFish Project

Gymnocorymbus is a genus of small characins from the Amazon, Paraguay, Orinoco, Courantyne, Gurupí and Parnaíba river basins in South America.[1][2] These tetras are popular in the aquarium trade.
