It is endemic to Brazil. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This elegant colored bird, has the chest band composed of a bright-white throat, a narrow band of black, and a light cinnamon band blending into the chest. Besides its range in southeast Brazil including the Atlantic coast, a small disjunct range occurs in northern and coastal Maranhão state, Northeast Region, Brazil.
