Name

Anacaena Thomson, 1859

Synonyms

Paranacaena Blackburn, 1889
Authority for synonymy: problematic! According to Short & Fikáček (2011: 87), 'Paranacaena was found polyphyletic and moreover nested in the Anacaena clade in the phylogenetic analysis performed by KOMAREK & BEUTEL (2007), but was not officially synonymized with Anacaena in the paper as the type species of Paranacaena was not included into the analysis (see also KOMAREK & BEUTEL 2007: 223). In spite of that, KOMAREK (2007: 147) considered the synonymy as already proposed as he wrote that ‘in a recent phylogenetic study (Komarek & Beutel 2006 [sic!]) Paranacaena and Gentilina were synonymized with Anacaena.’ Even though the synonymy of Paranacaena with Anacaena was therefore never formally proposed, the type species of Paranacaena, Paracymus lindi Blackburn, 1889, was transferred to Anacaena by KOMAREK (2007: 157) and this transfer has to be formally understood as the synonymization of Paranacaena with Anacaena'.

Grodum Hansen, 1999
Authority for synonymy: Komarek & Beutel, 2007: 223 ('syn.n.')

Omniops Perkins & Short, 2004
Authority for synonymy: Komarek & Beutel, 2007: 206 ('The comparison of the type specimen of Omniops hanseni and of the description and detailed figures (including the male genitalia) of Omniops fasciatus with the specimens of Paranacaena from New Guinea leaves no doubt that Omniops is a junior synonym of Paranacaena')
