Syntypes: BMNH 1946.8.30.13-17 (formerly 1889.11.13.49-53).

Type locality: “Mexico, Omilteme in the State of Guerrero 8000 feet”.


Taxonomic note: reduced to subspecies of Sceloporus mucronatus by Smith (1938: 591), was restaured to species by Martínez-Méndez & Méndez-de la Cruz (2007: 65).

Sceloporus omiltemanus, the southern cleft spiny lizard or southern cleft lizard, is a species of lizard in the family Phrynosomatidae.[1] It is endemic to Mexico.[1]
