he Black Catbird (Melanoptila glabrirostris) is a songbird species in the monotypic genus Melanoptila of the family Mimidae. At 24 grams and 20 cm, it is the smallest mimid. It is found in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.
